Unit price
How are unit prices compared?
Unit price is the amount divided by the base quantity. Grams compare with kilograms and millilitres with litres; grams do not become millilitres.
Formula
Unit price = amount ÷ base quantity. The smaller one is chosen by a cross product.
The rate and the amount come from you. No tariff is locked in the code.
Representative example: olive oil
- Olive oil first purchase 45.00 TRY for 500 g. Second purchase 80.00 TRY for 1 kg.
- Price per gram 0.09 TRY and 0.08 TRY.
- The second purchase is cheaper. The comparison does not use a binary float.
- Grams and millilitres are not compared on the same page.
Common mistakes
- Pasting someone else’s tariff in place of the numbers you type.
- Reading a typed rate as an official tariff. The page says the amount was entered by hand.
