Break-even

How is break-even quantity found?

1 min read

Break-even quantity is fixed cost divided by unit profit. A remainder rounds the count up, so the fixed cost is not left open.

Formula

Quantity = fixed cost ÷ unit profit. A remainder rounds up.

The rate and the amount come from you. No tariff is locked in the code.

Representative example: soap mold

  1. Soap mold fixed cost 100.00 TRY. Unit profit 30.00 TRY.
  2. 100 divided by 30 is not whole. The count is 4.
  3. Three units leave 90 and do not cover the fixed cost. The fourth unit does.
  4. No count is shown when unit profit is zero.

Common mistakes

  • Pasting someone else’s tariff in place of the numbers you type.
  • Reading a typed rate as an official tariff. The page says the amount was entered by hand.
